GIUSEPPE BEZZA: Modern Astrological Cosmologies
The era of Aquarius has been widely discussed. The search for a new spirituality, between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, presented a theory of history founded on cosmic cycles, where the precession of the equinoxes and the astrological meaning of the constellations play an essential role. At the basis of this theory, enthusiastically received by theosophs, anthroposophs and a large number of Masonic Lodges, there were the enticing hypotheses of some Assyrologists, today known as belonging to the pan-Babylonist school. On this basis, only that which was once true and recognised can be true and recognised today, as it seems to be commonly accepted that there can be no spiritual movement without roots in a distant past.
MESKALILA NUNZIA COPPOLA: Cosmogonies meet up
There are many myths associated with the birth of the universe: the cosmogonic myth is the most widespread one among the populations of the Earth. Each Natal chart represents the entanglement between individual cosmogony and universal cosmogony. The same energies which circulate in the body of humans, in the substance of the stars and in the substrate of the universe, are the same as those which vibrate between the planetary orbs and their intersections of the astral yantra. There is no need to travel far to go in search of our own myths. It is enough to immerse ourselves in the lines of our own cosmogonic design: our Natal chart. As we are dealing with Sacred Geometry, it is sufficient to know its rules, know how to apply them and, when necessary, know how to transcend them.
PAOLO CRIMALDI: The Natal chart as a cosmological map of the soul
The birth theme represents in its entirety a journey which leads to the realisation of the Self, just like happens in some Eastern traditions with regard to the mandala, and what the great Orientalist Giuseppe Tucci defined as a psycho-cosmogram. The birth chart permits the pinpointing of the roads which lead to the Self and of those which are initiation attempts, along a path which is often articulated by the transits of Uranus and Saturn, veritable activators of our destiny.
RAMANUJA DAS: Principles of Vedic cosmology
Vedic cosmology deals with the Creation and with the laws which are present in the Universe from the point of view of the Veda, and in a very different manner than the Western way. There exists a blessing for those who study and know this process of Creation: that of knowing the past, the present, and the future. Each planetary system (there are 14, 7 superior and 7 inferior) has an astrological correspondence; a part of the universe is full of water, the other is made up of sidereal space. Moreover, the perspective of the Universe is vertical and not horizontal like in the West. The perception of light in this world, in the superior planets and in the underground ones is also different. These, and many others, will be the principles dealt with during the conference.
LUCIA GANGHERI: The Farnese Atlas
The only large celestial globe has been surviving since ancient times, perhaps also thanks to the catalogues and to the use of celestial globes. Right from the very beginning, the Farnese Atlas has captured the attention of all scholars for its astronomical, cosmological, astrological and mythical worth. The celestial sphere, carried by Atlas on his back, shows the armillary sphere, the celestial equator, the ecliptic, the tropics, and the Arctic and Antarctic circles. In addition, there are the detailed constellations of Hipparchus' stars catalogue. For a long time, this old depiction of the sky had been reported as lost.
DEBORAH HOULDING : Wheels within Wheels - the Great Bears and the Guidance of the Pole Stars
Reminding us of our mortality on a daily basis, the Major and Minor constellations of the Bears spin around the North Pole, tracing out circles in the sky, and picking up associations with wagons, and the wheels of fate. Depending upon the constellation’s seasonal aspect, the Babylonian Wagon could convert from a plough that symbolised the generation of new life, to a funeral cart that symbolised life’s end. The fatal undertone of the Wagon’s symbolism is reinforced by its association with the direction North – the dark direction from which no sunlight shines, and into which the shadows fall, anciently associated with the dimmed realm of death and the underworld. The origins of Ursa Major’s star-meanings hold the tradition of the North Pole acting as the ‘Gate of Men’, where human souls are mythologically supposed to pass to and from the Earth. This presentation argues that Ursa Major's star meanings are not to be learned, but simply understood, since they emerge from deep and powerful collective roots, which are timeless and universal in their application. Their impact upon individual fortunes is illustrated through the charts of two world leaders - one remembered for his impact in war; the other for being a champion of peace.
GENEVIEVE JAMA: From the origins of the World to the Twilight of the Gods: parallelisms with Greek myths and astrology, along the path of Nordic mythology.
Through the Greek and Nordic cosmogonies we will discover several converging points on the vision about men and the world's creation. We will touch upon the conquest of power by New Gods over Forces, Sons of Chaos and Primordiality. Some Nordic Gods find their correspondence in the Greek pantheon. For the Nordic cycle, everything will end up with the Final Fight between the forces of Good and Evil, returning to the initial point: Chaos. The ancient Greeks, on the other hand, supported hypothesis, theories and minor myths, but did not consider the End of the World.
PATRIZIA NAVA: A comprehensible world: the horary chart as a microcosm
The traditional Cosmos is a circumscribed, closed universe, providing a deliberately limited view of reality. The observer attributes meaning, order and purpose to this world. Therefore, the horary chart does not aim at mirroring the universe, but it draws a picture of a miniaturised cosmos which is the result of conscious choice and which is meaningful to the observer (the so-called Querent). The chart is a cross-section of chaos that can be read and understood just because it is ordered, limited and focused. In this way, we obtain an intelligible, comprehensible world.
THE CONGRESS WILL BE HELD IN ITALIAN LANGUAGE
